Alloy steels comprise a broad spectrum of steels whose compositions are more than the limitations of C, Mo, Cr, Va, Mn, Ni, Si, and B which have been fixed for carbon steels. These steels are more responsive to mechanical and heat treatments than carbon steels. The following datasheet will provide details about AISI 4137 alloy steel.
AISI 4137 is a Standard grade Alloy Steel. It is commonly called AISI 4137 Chromium molybdenum steel. It is composed of (in weight percentage) 0.35 0.40% Carbon (C), 0.70 0.90% Manganese (Mn), 0.035%(max) Phosphorus (P), 0.04%(max) Sulfur (S), 0.15 0.30% Silicon (Si), 0.80 1.10% Chromium (Cr), 0.15 0.25% Molybdenum (Mo), and the base metal Iron (Fe).
Tempering of AISI 4130 steel can be performed at 399 to 566°C (750 to 1050°F), depending on the desired strength level. Hardening of AISI 4130 steel can be done with cold working or heat treatment. Some of the major applications of AISI 4130 alloy steel are in aircraft engine mounts and welded tubing.
AISI 1020 steel is also known as C1020 steel in cold worked (cold rolled and cold drawn) condition. 1020 carbon steel is one of the most commonly used plain carbon steels, has good machinability and weldability. SAE AISI 1020 mild steel can be hot rolled or cold drawn, but it is usually in turned and polished or cold drawn conditions.
Among alloy steels, the composition of SAE AISI 4137 steel is notable for containing comparatively high amounts of chromium (Cr) and manganese (Mn). Chromium is used to improve corrosion resistance and most mechanical properties (particularly at higher temperatures).

AISI/SAE steel numbers are indicated below. Example AISI/SAE No. 1020. the first digit indicates that this is plain carbon steel. the second digit indicates there are no alloying elements; the last two digits indicates that the steel contains approximately 0.20 percent carbon ; Example AISI/SAE No. 4340

Carbon SteelProperties, Production, Examples and Applications Carbon steel is an iron carbon alloy, which contains up to 2.1 wt.% carbon. For carbon steels, there is no minimum specified content of other alloying elements, however, they often contain manganese.
They are designated by AISI four digit numbers, and contain 0.4% of silicon and 1.2% of manganese. Molybdenum, chromium, nickel, copper, and aluminium are present in small quantities. Impurities such as sulfur and phosphorous may also be found in these steels. The following datasheet gives an overview of AISI 1137 carbon steel. Chemical Composition

Introduction. Steels having carbon as the major alloying element are called as carbon steels. They contain up to 1.2% manganese and 0.4% silicon. The residual elements such as copper, molybdenum, aluminium, chromium and nickel are also present in these steels. AISI 1017 carbon steel is
