Mar 28, 2009 · One of our products is available in Corten steel. The way we treat the finish is after fabrication it's allowed to weather for 2 3 weeks to develop the desired patina. The loose "dust" is then removed and a coat of wax sealer is hand applied giving it a very unique leather like look.
After the initial reactive period corten steel will cure and self seal with little to no carbon runoff. The weathering process of corten steel is integral to this product and as such we will not accept any responsibility for damage caused to surrounding materials as a result of carbon run off from corten steel products.
Beware of weathering steel products which use high amounts of chloride (salt) as a initiator to the rust layer. Over time they will display the non adherent nature of their oxide layer and do not provide adequate corrosion protection that is typically desired when using weathering steel as a cladding material.

Corten steel planters do not ship pre weathered & will arrive with the bare steel finish which will have to weather over time to develop a golden brown rust color & Texture. Planters should be placed on grass during weathering process to avoid staining to adjacent material.
